Metro-Volt by Human                                                                                                        2005-July

   Hi Re-Volt fan,

This is my 6th own track, thx for downloading and trying it!

Thanks

I dedicate this track to Gabor Varga whom I regard as my teacher, although I dont know him personally, but his informative and encouraging e-mails helped me to keep up in the work. Thanks to the Acclaim-Team for the game and for the fine working ASE-Tools converter util to its creators (to Gabor among them). Thanks for tolerance to my wife and for ideas to my children. Thanks for the encouragement and for the tips and instructions to all the online players and track creators. Thx for the „city by night” texture to hilaire9 (colour-modification by me). Thx to sjampo for testing the track.

The Story  (as outsiders see it)

Tonight, like usually all the underground stations in New Volt City are closed. But they are not empty! The so called rc-car-hooligans appeared on two central stations. Nobody knows from where they used to come out and no one can find the trace of them. The only material proof against them is an empty bottle of paint spray found by an officer on the Harvester Park station in January of 1998. Seldom they appeare in the daytime, the city police has two video records made by tourists. One of the records shows two rc-cars flashing between the legs of passengers  with blue electric light on them. The police has no technology to catch the trouble-makers at the moment.

Description  (as the insiders see it)

The sceen is our favorite subway station in New Volt City at night. The staff has left the station, the security service has been blinded with a fake video, played by a player pluged into a safety camera’s output (like we used to do it J ). In place of lenghty analisation I enclosed a map in the installed level folder which shows you our tonight’s racing line. (its quality isnt too fine, because I didnt want to make a big size readme, you can easily zoom in the map in windows Paint for example, or in picture&fax viewer) There is a train waiting for the early morning clean up, we will pass through one of its carriage. We use the warehouse tonight to get to the Ballistical Institute Station. Watch out on this station, workers was waxing the floor, its a little bit slippery on an area.

The Time

This track seems to be a new representative of my „45 seconds” tracks. Its not intentional, but almost  all my track’s best times begin under 45 seconds. Stock cars used to make laps with times between 0.55.00 and 1.10.00. (There is a few heavy turn to them and they dont know the shortcuts) My best on Metro-Volt (at the time of creating this readme) is 0.44.960 with Toyeca in race with opponents without picks. (Some custom car is a really talented pusher, lol ) My best 3 laps time with picks and opponents (seven cruel beasts like Zork and Tungsten, lol) is 2.19.186. On my machine the computer leaded custom car record of the track is 0.46.256 by Grinder, a fine speedy and brainy car. Im sure, there is a pretty number of expert racers who can beat us after a few hour of practising.

  Softwares

I use 3ds max for creating tracks. The exported ASCII file from max is converted into .w file with the ase2w module of ASE-Tools. (ase tools can create models for Re-Volt also by conversion of max files with the ase2prm module). Further modification and creation in MAKEITGOOD menu. Shadows comes from max and lights are made in MAKEITGOOD editor (inner editor of the game), together with all the needed infos for the CPU cars. The textures are adjusted with Adobe Photoshop. The reflecting floor effect is made with Mkmirror. Gfx (the picture by which you choose the track in the game) snapshot was created with Fraps. Renaming the track files after finishing the creation period was made with RVTC-Tool. (you can make custom tracks only with using the name of a stock track in MAKEITGOOD editor).

Installation

Just unzip the compressed file into the main Re-Volt directory. (typically: (your driver/your directory(ies)/Acclaim Emtertainment /Re-Volt ) Files will automatically be installed to the correct place.

Address

Critics are welcome to the following address:  ( I have removed humans email address but if you want it its in the track zip file. This is to prevent any spam from going to the author.)

How about to send me some special and interesting screenshots on this track? Im interested in time results also, especially in time trial times with stock cars. If bug is detected, please inform me with a short description of its place, character and frequency.

I wish you funny races on this track and I hope we will meet online to make some skirmish J.

If you dont used to play online or you dont know how to do it I invite you to the Gamespy Server where you will find good friends every evening. (Gamespy Arcade is a client program leads you to the Gamespy server and you can join to the players in the Re-Volt room for racing.)

You are free to distribute this track but dont change any feature of it. You can reuse textures for your own purposes but dont forget to mention the original author J.

Long live Re-Volt!
