Re-Volt Version Switch Patch 1.0
==== READ THIS FILE COMPLETELY ====

This Patch is a combination of 2 NO-CD patches and a batch operation to
switch Re-Volt from version 1.00 to 1.10 and vice versa.
--== WHY THIS PATCH ==--
A lot of people are using the 1.10 version of the game to host custom
tracks. But the 1.10 version of Re-Volt is very unstable and crashes a lot.
Another problem of the 1.10 version is that the ALT-F4 key combination, to
quit the game, makes the game crash and leaves the game in a crashed
condition in your windows session.
ATTENTION: If your Re-Volt v1.10 keeps crashing all the time, press CTRL-ALT
-DELETE just ONCE and see if there are any crashed session of Re-Volt in that
window. A crashed session of Re-Volt can be spotted by the following line:
Revolt [Not responding]
In that case you have to click on it once and click on the "END TASK" button.
Do this as many times as there are crashed Re-Volt sessions. This way of
dealing with the problem saves you from a reboot :)
Because of these problems I have made a patch to switch from version 1.10 to
1.00 and vice versa.
--== NO-CD PATCH ==--
Another thing about this patch is that the executables are patched (source
unknown) which means, in this case, you don't need to insert the Re-Volt CD
-ROM in order to play Re-Volt.
A disadvantage is that you are no longer able to listen to the music from the
Re-Volt CD-ROM. But on the other hand, who wants to listen to that crap
anywayz.

The Re-Volt_Version_Switch_10.zip file contains the following files:
Readme.txt
Re-Volt_NOCDVS10.zip
Restore_org_files.bat
Backup_org_files.bat
The Re-Volt_Version_Switch_10.zip should be distributed with these four files
in it. If one or more files are missing, you shouldn't install this patch.
--== SYSTEM INFO ==--
Although I have only tested this patch in windows 98, I think it will also
work on any platform Re-Volt works on.
--== INSTALLATION ==--
IMPORTANT: Make sure that Re-Volt is not running and that there are no
crashed sessions of Re-Volt in your CTRL-ALT-DEL window (see WHY THIS PATCH
section in this file). You'd better reboot if you are not sure about this.
This patch can be applied to both original v1.00 and v1.10 of Re-Volt.
Step 1: Unpack the Re-Volt_Version_Switch_10.zip to a folder of your choice.
Step 2: Copy Backup_org_files.bat to your Re-Volt folder and execute it. This
will backup all your original files that will be replaced. Backups can be
found in the "backup_switch" folder in your Re-Volt folder.
IMPORTANT: Remove the Backup_org_files.bat from your Re-Volt folder after
this step before going to the next step. Executing this file again will
cause a mess. File might have been automaticly removed already.
Step 3: Extract the Re-Volt_NOCDVS10.zip file into your Re-Volt folder. The
default folder Re-Volt is installed in is:
C:\Program Files\Acclaim Entertainment\Re-Volt.
WARNING: Do not drag-and-drop these zipped files into your Re-Volt folder.
This way you could lose the folder information in which the files should be
placed. The result will be that the patch won't work.

--== USING THE PATCH ==--
IMPORTANT: Make sure that Re-Volt is not running and that there are no
crashed sessions of Re-Volt in your CTRL-ALT-DEL window (see WHY THIS PATCH
section in this file). You'd better reboot if you are not sure about this.
When you have installed the patch, the Re-Volt version will be v1.10 which
means you can host custom tracks. In order to switch back to v1.00 (the more
stable version) you need to double click the GOTO_Re-Volt_v1.00.bat file
in your Re-Volt folder. This will rename a couple of files. After that you
can exit the DOS-window.
When you want to switch from v1.00 to v1.10 just execute the
GOTO_Re-Volt_v1.10.bat file in your Re-Volt folder. This will rename a
couple of files. After that you can exit the DOS-window.
--== RESTORING RE-VOLT ==--
If you are not satisfied with this patch or just want to uninstall it, just
unzip and copy the Restore_org_files.bat to your Re-Volt folder and execute it
to get your old version back.
IMPORTANT: Remove the Restore_org_files.bat from your Re-Volt folder after
this step before going to the next step. Executing this file again will
cause a mess. File might have been automaticly removed already.
WARNING: Never apply the Restore_org_files.bat if you have not isntalled the
patch in the first place. When you do it will mess up everything.
