Track: Jupiter Authors: Biometal/Spriggan & GO_AWAY Length: 2473m Difficulty: Extreme Environment: Space Jupiter, the fifth planet from the Sun, is the largest planet in our Solar System, and is a gas giant. Because there is no solid surface on Jupiter, the extraterrestrial beings who reside within this Jovian domain have constructed a few solid surfaces---as an experiment to test how long it would uphold before succumbing to the planet's merciless, constant storms. Although the surface is sturdy enough not to be completely eaten by Jupiter, it's not the most stable; it's a gas planet for a reason. So that this effort wouldn't go to waste, the Jovians have transported an assortment of toy-sized RC cars to their cloudy domain to race within this hostile environment for their entertainment. Present in the track are: sporadic wind currents, pools of liquid ammonia, unleveled terrain, underpasses, traps, lightning, craters, Jovian habitats, and several other surprises. Tread with caution, as it'll be easy to get blown off-course and devoured by the Big Red Spot's monstrous storm. Jovian species whom will be spectating are: Floaters---large, balloon-like creatures that control the heavy storms. They stay high above the track. Hunters---creatures that are constantly circling above the surface. They let you know where you shouldn't go. Sinkers---spherical creatures that are always in groups of three. They reside where the winds strengthen, unstable areas, and hazardous areas. Fungries---the only creatures that are on the ground with you. They are always hungry, but they won't eat you unless you're near their belly. The raceline may not be clear, so it's best to pay attention to where these beings are and why they're there. Don't be afraid to approach them as they don't intend to harm. The planet itself, however, means very much harm, as you're technically not supposed to be there to begin with. Important Notes: *Lightweight cars will not perform well here. Use at your own risk. This track is best suited for faster, heavier cars. *Getting hit by pickups will be extremely lethal, as getting knocked off-course will send you flying high. Practice an evasive maneuver. *Avoid getting zapped at all costs; while your car is immobile, the planet never stops shifting and could potentially throw you off track up into Floater territory. *Stay away from the darker surfaces as much as possible unless you're a risk-taker. *An average speed of 30mph or higher is recommended as the track is as massive as a Jupiter-based track should be. *Follow the path and heed warnings. The Jovians provided them for a reason. *Don't whine, they hate that. *Theyz don't mindz when yaz talkz like this at allz. Theyz allz clearly have a better sense'a humorz than most Oithlingz doz. *Many pickup stars will be hidden throughout the track (there are six of them), including five stars in Practice Mode. *Four of Jupiter's moons have been implemented: A fine view of Io can be observed from anywhere within the track, Pickups have been customized on and sent from Europa, Star Pickups have fallen from Ganymede, and the Ball Bearing has been condensed into a miniature-sized Callisto. *Hints for Practice Star locations* 1st star: "Jovian party underway. Invite only." (Or just use the hidden VIP entrance.) 2nd star: "Patience and endurance will get you through the wind wall." (Breach the Jovian City.) 3rd star: "Remains left behind from a meteor." (Disintegration is imminent.) 4th star: "Slowly being digested..." (Listen carefully for slurping sounds.) 5th star: "No entry from this point. Find another way." (Figure it out.) *Known Bugs* 1. Camera may pan on its own (without camera triggers) in certain spots. GO_AWAY has fixed most of them, but some are still present. There are intentional zoom-ins at a few parts anyway, so it shouldn't be a big problem. 2. Some walls are solid on only one side. Blender is making certain ones this way for unknown reasons, and trying to figure out why has become debilitating. Again, shouldn't be a big deal. 3. Small chance that the Reposition trigger that covers the entire upper part of the track may not respond if your car is too light, since the lighter cars will get propelled too fast. (This trigger also keeps the Hunters from invading Floater territory.) 4. Jovians do not eat pizza. 5. The upward slope in one of the tunnels may flip you over at the end, but it shouldn't happen too often unless you're turning out of it. *Tools Used/Credits* Blender GO_AWAY (A.K.A Moddyz, Sullendratz, Dextoiz) My son Blake (the PNG in the level folder) assssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss (Yes, he wrote that while licking my keyboard) HabitatB Blender Plugin (for Revolt) by Marv Audacity Visual Boy Advance (Gameboy Advance Emulator) MAKEITGOOD Edit Mode & Dev Mode Carl Sagan's short documentary on Jupiter, found on YouTube.
